Surf Monk is a Surf band that plays the music of Thelonius Monk, as well as referencing some iconic bass lines that "mash-up" with Monk's famously obtuse melodies.

Adhering to the Surf style, songs are short and catchy, touching on the likes of The Ventures, Dick Dale, and quoting such groups as The Violent Femmes, The Cure, and even the Batman theme song. It makes for a fun set of music.

Fronted by the raucous and exciting guitar work of Jason Goessl (Prom Queen, The Pornadoes), and anchored by the mighty rhythm section of PK(bass, Rockin' Teenage Combo) and David Bush (drums, Caleb & Walter), the grooves are tight, in-the-pocket, and tough as nails.

This group truly has a unique sound that will appeal to a large group of listeners. Jazz-heads will dig the quirky idea of it, Surf fans will enjoy the new melodies on top of familiar grooves, and the everyday fan will recognize the pop music references and will not feel put off by an overt "Jazz" vibe. It's supposed to be fun, and it is.
